The Old Kings Head Hotel can claim to be one of the oldest buildings in the ancient Lake District Charter Town of Broughton-in-Furness
The Hotel has a spacious bar and dining area, lounge and restaurant. Cosy fires are lit in the winter months and for warmer days drinkers and diners can take advantage of our landscaped, seated, garden area with a choice of open or shaded tables. At the bar we serve a range of cask-conditioned ales, including some local brews, as well as a selection of fine wines for all occasions.
The Old Kings Head Hotel is renowned for its excellent food and has an AA 4-star award for the quality of the accommodation and dining which includes both traditional & more adventurous dishes all of which are freshly prepared to order by our team of chefs. A brief history... The Old Kings Head Hotel has a recorded history approaching 400 years. Its beginnings are closely connected with the history of the Church in the area. The Old Kings Head was originally named Church or Kirk House.
The year in which Church House changed its name and became an inn under the sign of the Kings Head is not known and the inn was later obliged to add the word 'old' to its title when for some obscure reason an inn built at a later date took the name Kings Head. It has a most interesting interior with many timber beams characteristic of many of the older houses in the district. Upstairs the inn was used as Broughton's only theatre until about 1890
Nowadays, the Old Kings Head Hotel offers a warm traditional, village inn atmosphere combined with modern comforts in an area which has something for everyone to enjoy.
