We've always got a great range and quality of beers, lagers, wines and spirits available at the bar, and our efforts to promote the enjoyment of good beers has been recognized in the award of the Cask Marque - acknowledging of the importance we place on serving the best beer, at its best, all the time.
Cumbria is a hot-bed of brewing and we like to support and promote local beer alongside our local food, so no only do we serve some of the country's favourite brews from the likes of Timothy Taylor's, Deuchars and Boddingtons, we always have beers from local Cumbrian breweries. The multi-award winning Beckstones Brewery is just across the River Duddon from where firm favourites Black Dog Freddy and Leat are developing a national following. Sample some of Lakeland’s finest at the Old Kings Head Hotel.
In addition to our passion for serving the perfect pint of ale we stock lagers and bottled beers from across the globe and a wide variety of minerals, soft drinks and fruit juices.
Our selected wine list contains a whole range of wine types from old and new world sources from bone dry whites to rich, fruity reds; wines to suit all tastes. We’ve wines available by the bottle and by the glass to accompany food or simply to enjoy, and we’re always ready to recommend something for either purpose.
Broughton Festival of Beer takes place every Autumn and the Old Kings Head Hotel plays its full part in the festivities. Dozens of ales, stouts, porters and lagers are available over a weekend set aside to celebrate and appreciate the fruits of some of Cumbria’s and the wider world’s best brewers.
Our large beer garden behind the inn provides a sunny, sheltered spot to enjoy some great beers and wines. The outdoor food preparation area and barbecue station within the garden are used throughout the summer for special events and can be hired for private parties.
